YES WAVE Promotions is looking for volunteers to provide assistance for those walking, biking, driving, etc... to and from their event at X-Cues on Friday, March 23. Please, see the description below, and feel free to sign up!

HEY LOVELY FOLKS OF THE MUSIC COMMUNITY!
As we mentioned in the description we are implementing a 'Safe-Walk' initiative for individuals uncomfortable with walking in the West End the night of this show and we need some volunteers!

All you'll be required to do is respond to a text we forward to you from an individual looking for escort, meet them at the University of Winnipeg bus stops and walk them to the venue.
The walk is less than 5 minutes one way. If you can take the trek a couple times during the night we will offer you half-off cover for the night! So, 4 great bands for $5!

Please email us at yeswavepresents@gmail.com with "Safe-Walk Volunteer" in the subject line.

If you would like a safe walk to the venue from the bus stop please email us with the subject line "Safe-Walker"

Thanks, hope you have a great week!
-Yes Wave

*We at Yes Wave strongly believe the West End is a beautiful and vibrant neighborhood full of great food, nightlife and culture but recognize the occasional stigma and how some may feel uncomfortable at times in the area. It is our job as concert promoters to do our best job possible to create safe environments and ensure everyone feels comfortable at our events.
We hope this small initiative benefits the music community and the community as a whole!*

Winnipeg Free Press article out this week, highlighting the hot Jam musicians during the cold weather! Yay, Sargent Jam night!

HOT MUSICAL SCENE AT -30 C: X-Cues threw open its doors to musicians on Feb. 8 for its Thursday night Sargent Jam and some of Winnipeg’s top musicians entered to clouds of steam as the cold outside air mixed with the hot music being played inside. First off was Rockalypso: a trio that includes keyboard master Gerry Atwell (Eagle and Hawk, Ministers of Cool), sax man and former Morden mayor Doug (Freddy) Wilson (Chocolate Bunnies From Hell) and the night’s host, Glenworth Williams.

Joining them onstage later was guitarist Vito De Stefano, drummer Gerry Pacheco and Matthew Chaput on bass. For the second set, sound man Henry Onwuchekwa slipped behind the keyboards and soon Ian Cameron was singing Elton John’s famous hit Rocket Man. Later, bassist Frank Manicone and Greg Paul Bouchard took part, with Bouchard belting out Neil Young’s famous Ohio, with the audience joining in.

The second group a was band called MSG (short for "message") with Faith Dappa singing, Yalah Jerry on keyboards, Steven Okakwu on drums, Ini Olorunnishola on sax and Onwuchekwa, back on stage, this time on guitar. What a Thursday night to discover!
